123 Number Magic Matching will help your child become proficient at counting objects, learning numerals, and pairing quantitates with their correct numerals

For Game #1, Which Set is a Match?, the child’s job is to look at the pairs of numerals and tiles and determine which paired set has a numeral tile and quantity tile that match.

In Game #2, Which Numeral?, the child counts the quantity of objects in the box. Next, the drags the token and drops it on top of the correct numeral.

Game #3, Which One Doesn’t Belong?, the child’s task is to decide which tile does not belong with the others. The child erases the odd one out.

Game #4, Pairing, has the child pairing or matching quantity tiles with numeral tiles. The gameplay continues until all of the tiles are matched.

In the Number Library, children can learn numerals and experiment with changing quantity tiles to match their numeral of choice. Each time the child taps the numeral three in the big box on the left, it will say, “three.” Each time the child taps the quantity tile box on the left, it will say, “three,” and the object theme will change. For example, first, there would be three lions, then three flowers, then three cows, and then four dogs. Children can experiment and tap different numerals and see the different quantities change to match the numeral.

The Number Quiz is where children can test their numeral recognition. In the numeral quiz, two or more numeral tiles appear on the screen. The app announces one of the numerals. Next, the child determines which of the numerals appearing on the screen matches that voiced numeral. Finally, the child taps that numeral. The app lets the child know if they made the right choice.

Dr. Lyle Palmer says, “The repetition of the stimulus reduces the resistance at the synapse.” (Palmer, L., lecture on Accelerated Learning, 1998)

These games are designed so that children can do them independently after being given the basic instructions on how to play the games. The app uses built-in feedback mechanisms to provide assistance and clear direction that allows children to work at their own pace without pressure or hurry. These feedback mechanisms allow children to self-correct their own work. The child can experiment and learn from the app. Once the parent or teacher has given the child the basic knowledge of how to use the app, their job is done. The parent or teacher does not need to tell their child what is right or wrong or where the token goes. Instead, the feedback mechanisms of the app support learning by giving children clear, gentle, natural consequences. This setup helps foster stress-free independent learning and optimum performance.
